Steve Polinsky, President of Rebels Basketball Academy
Coach Steve Polinsky played high school basketball at Cherry Hill East High in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. He continued on to play basketball at the collegiate level at Elizabethtown College. After trying out for the Chicago Bulls, Polinsky played for the Washington Generals — part of the Harlem Globetrotters organization.
At the beginning of his coaching career, Polinsky was assistant basketball coach at many high schools, including teams at Neshaminy High School, Council Rock South High School, and his alma mater Cherry Hill East High. He spent ten years as a varsity assistant under legendary coach John Valore. Polinsky was the head basketball coach at Villa Joseph Marie High School for three years, and served as an assistant basketball coach at both Saint Basil Academy and Archbishop Wood.
Currently Coach Polinsky is the New Hope Solebury Head Girl’s Basketball coach. Polinsky resides in Newtown with his wife, Susan, and their three daughters, Taylor, Camryn, and Kristen.
Derek Blum, President of Boys Basketball
Coach Derek Blum started playing basketball at age five, but officially started his career in high school, where he was a four-year member of the Plymouth Whitemarsh High School basketball team in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. Blum joined Rebels in 2013 and currently serves as president of the boys basketball division. Blum is the head coach of the freshman boys Rebels’ team. Blum has three children, all of which were Rebel members.
Jack Shouldis, President of Girls Basketball
Coach Jack Shouldis played high school basketball for Holy Ghost Prep in Bensalem, Pennsylvania. He was a two-time All-Bicentennial Award winner in basketball and soccer. He was also named to the Bucks County Courier Times All Area First Team for soccer. Shouldis continued playing basketball at Albright College where he was twice named MVP.
Shouldis started coaching youth sports in Bucks County in 1997. He currently acts at president of the Rebels’ girls basketball division, and assists with the high school basketball program at Holy Ghost Prep. Shouldis resides in Wrightstown, Pennsylvania with his wife, Cathie, and their daughters, Juliana and Carlie.
